GP campaigners in Ludlow distribute a thousand leaflets for public meeting
10:50am Wednesday 1st February 2012
A THOUSAND leaflets are being distributed throughout Ludlow to encourage people to fight to save a GP surgery in the town.
The campaign group ‘Save a Ludlow Town Surgery’ SALT is also calling a public meeting later this month.
It is fighting to prevent all GP surgeries being moved to the Eco Park when the new Ludlow Hospital and Health Village opens in 2014.
The group says it is not against the health village but believes that moving both the existing GP practices will leave people in Ludlow Town Centre at a great disadvantage.
In particular SALT is worried about the impact upon older people, those dependent upon public transport and patients with disabilities.
SALT wants to see some GP facilities retained in the town centre even if it is only a satellite service linked to the health village.
The meeting is at the Ludlow Conference Centre on Wednesday, February 15 at 7.30pm.
